The nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System will be conducted today by the Federal Communications Commission. UNL Alert, campus sirens and other campus notifications systems will not be affected.

UNL's radio station, KRNU (90.3 on the FM dial), and Nebraska Educational Telecommunications television and radio broadcasts will participate in the nationwide test.

Tests will run simultaneously on radio and television broadcast systems at 1 p.m. (CST). The test may appear on local television and radio stations for approximately 30 seconds. The test is intended as practice for the Emergency Alert System; participants are monitoring systems and will report back to the FCC whether any problems were encountered.
