TITLE:

FULL-TIME TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING

JOB DESCRIPTION/REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of either transportation engineering or environmental engineering at the assistant professor level. The successful candidate must have earned a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a closely related field. We seek a candidate with a strong background in traffic management, autonomous vehicles, transportation planning, traffic signal timing design, water resources engineering, fate and transport of contaminants, smart environmental technologies or life cycle assessment/techno-economic analysis. The ability to obtain professional registration (PE) within a reasonable timeframe is required.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers the BS, MSE, and PhD degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The department currently has four tenured/tenure-earning faculty and one clinical assistant professor. The enrollment within the department is about 150 undergraduate students and 20 graduate students. The faculty research strengths are in the areas of transportation, environmental engineering, structures, materials, sustainability, and water resources. Current and previous sources of faculty funding include sources such as USDOT, ALDOT, NSF, EPA, DOE, DOD, NASA, and industry.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE:

The College of Engineering is comprised of five Departments and has the largest enrollment of the university’s five academic colleges. The research focus in the college includes three of several National Academy of Engineering (NAE) grand challenge problems - secure cyberspace; restore and improve urban infrastructure; and engineer tools of scientific discovery. Our strategic Flight Plan 2032 seeks to enhance student-centered teaching and learning focused on student success, promote basic and applied research, while engaging the local and regional community through outreach and workforce development.
