
Christian Brothers University is looking to hire a faculty member in Environmental Engineering (Open-Rank, non-Tenure-Track).
Job Description:
The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, within the Gadomski School of Engineering is seeking a dynamic educator with a background in Environmental Engineering and Water Resource Engineering for a non-tenure-track faculty position. The decision to hire at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor will be based on the candidate's background and experience.
Candidates with a secondary background related to Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering who can teach courses such as Thermodynamics 1 and 2, Heat Transfer, and Reactor Design are highly desired.
The faculty member will be expected to teach a full load each semester and will be expected to teach or develop courses in:
-Environmental Engineering
-Fluid Mechanics
-Wastewater Treatment
-Hydrology and Hydraulics
-Other engineering service courses as needed (e.g. Intro to Civil Engineering, Statics, Civil Engineering Graphics, etc.)
-Related Lab Sections for Environmental Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, and Hydrology & Hydraulics
Primary duties and responsibilities include teaching a full load each semester and advising civil engineering students and seniors on their projects. Secondary duties and responsibilities include developing an applied research program that engages undergraduate students, serving on university committees, and advising the ASCE student competitions.
Requirements:
-M.S. in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
-Proficiency in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering curricula
-Excellence in teaching ability at the undergraduate level
Preferred Qualities:
-Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
-Prior teaching experience at a primarily undergraduate institution
-Prior experience in externally funded applied research in Environmental or Water Resources Engineering
-Proficiency with current laboratory instrumentation in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering
-Ability to engage students in undergraduate research
-Secondary background in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
-P.E. License or ability of obtain it before applying for promotion
