
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Environmental Engineering beginning Fall 2026. Applications at the assistant professor level are especially encouraged although exceptionally well-qualified applicants suited to appointment at the associate professor rank may also be considered. Candidates with research and teaching interests that complement those of the existing faculty are desired. Example areas of interest include, but are not limited to, environmental biotechnology; coastal ecosystems; physical-chemical processes; contaminant fate and transport; water treatment and reuse; food-energy-water nexus; environmental health; stormwater; and sustainable development. The selected faculty member is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop and sustain an externally funded research program, and direct graduate students. The selected candidate is also expected to engage in service activities with professional organizations and at the university.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering or a closely related field at the time employment begins. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the term of employment.
