The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Stanford University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the junior level (Assistant Professor). We seek applicants in support of the department's vision of creating solutions for cities, communities, and nature to thrive, with a particular focus on the frontier of natural hazard and risk engineering.
While we give highest priority to the originality, quality, and potential impact of the candidate's work, we are especially interested in applicants whose research addresses hazard characterization, risk assessment, and/or mitigation strategies for climate-influenced risks, such as flooding, drought, wildfires, landslides, storms, and urban heat, among others.
Applicants must have completed, or be completing, a Ph.D. in the engineering field in which they apply their work, or a closely related one. Evidence of the ability to pursue a program of research, a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching, and the ability to initiate and conduct research across disciplines are required.
Applications will be accepted until November 15th, 2025. Interviews will begin in the winter term, so applicants are encouraged to apply early.
