Welcome to a new school year in the PGA Golf Management Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln! We have quite a few new students in the program and many of our upper class women and men are out on extended internships this fall.
To be completely honest, we have great students in UNL's PGA golf management program. As you read the stories in this edition of our newsletter, you get to hear from our alumni, our current students, and plans for a very special event coming up on Friday, September 22 next year (yes, that is 2017!).
This past summer, the program conducted our first education abroad experience to Scotland led by our own Brad Goetsch. Brad did a fantastic job of planning and conducting this summer international study abroad experience and I encourage you to read about their experiences while in Ireland and Scotland. The next trip is being planned for the summer of 2018.
The Ryder Cup has just concluded with the Cup being returned to the United States and we hope our own team from UNL will be successful in bringing the CONE Cup back to Lincoln in October. It sounds like the weather will be great and I know this year's team sure could use the support and encouragement to help Captain Zach Gleysteen return the Cup to it's rightful place in our trophy cabinet. Lastly, there are still many opportunities in the golf industry for our students and graduates. Many internships go unfilled each semester and the golf industry continues to look for great women and men to fill the careers available in our profession. If you know of outstanding women and men who are interested in the golf industry, then a campus visit is the place to start. Feel free to send us the names and addresses of young (and non-traditional students too) individuals who might be interested in a career in the golf industry. We would be happy to reach out and let them know of the career opportunities available in our profession. And, we encourage each of you to make a campus visit to see what is happening in the PGA golf management program at UNL.
