Well...it appears that summer has finally arrived in the heartland. I hope you were able to enjoy the short spring before the heat turned on in Nebraska. The early months of the year were cold and the program had a difficult time getting in the required tournaments this spring.

While spring was short, the accomplishments and endeavors of our students are long and exciting. In our summer edition, you will read about many of the wonderful accolades our students earned during the spring semester at UNL.

Enrollment this fall appears to be on par with last fall's numbers. While our campus visits and student applications were up significantly this fall and spring, the percentage of potential students enrolling in fall classes fell off the pace. As a program, we are reaching out to these potential students in an attempt to learn why the PGA Golf Management Program was not selected as the "next steps" in their educational development. As you would imagine, the cost of higher education continues to be a major factor in determining where potential students choose to further their education.

On a positive note, there were many "firsts" in the PGA Golf Management Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Please read the articles highlighting Nick St. Onge, Cordell Weber, and the promotion of Brad Goetsch to an assistant professor of practice. Congratulations to all these fine individuals!

One of the more exciting and educational ventures this spring happened with the inaugural "Legends and Young Guns Golf Classic". What a great idea David Honnes, PGA brought to our attention as a way for our veteran PGA professionals to interact with our PGA golf management students here on campus. Students who participated in this great event still talk about the impact it had on their professional development and the networking opportunities realized in spending the day with PGA professionals in the golf industry in Nebraska. Wow! Thank you to David and his team at the Nebraska Section of the PGA and a huge thank you to the more than 270 PGA professionals in the Nebraska Section of the PGA who support the future members of this great organization!

In conclusion, please mark September 28-29, 2018 on your calendars. During the weekend of UNL's Homecoming against Purdue, the program will be hosting its Second Annual Alumni Celebration. More information can be found in this edition of our newsletter. So keep a lookout for additional information to arrive in your email inbox. This is a great opportunity to see old friends and make new ones. The program is going strong and to continue the momentum and growth of the program, we need the support of our alumni.

If at anytime you find yourself in the Lincoln area, please reach out to us here on campus. We would love to tour you through our facilities, meet our wonderful staff and our students, and treat you to the best ice cream in Nebraska and the nation.

Fairways and Greens!

Dann
