The Fall of 2018 brought a lot of excitement to our Student Club. We had PGA Members David Anderson (Northern Texas Section PGA), Jeff Kringen (Spring Hill Golf Club), and Andy Fisher (Kansas City Country Club) speak at our club meetings.
Kyle Murray was able to take home the Fall Match Play Championship trophy for the second straight year. Two of our students (Gretchen Keller and Nathan Vaughn) were invited to attend the 2018 PGA Annual Meeting in Palm Springs, CA. Our Jones Cup Team of Sam Rice, Josh Baldus, TJ Loudner, Cordell Weber, and Kyle Murray fired a team score of 292 on Day 2 at the Wanamaker Course to finish in a tie for 8th place. Our CONE Cup team traveled to Edmund in October to once again take on the University of Central Oklahoma. Day 1 ended with each team having 3.5 points on the board, but Day 2 proved to be the difference as UCO took home the cup 13-8.
The Riordan Cup saw 3 different dates on our fall tournament calendar, only to have bad weather force us to move the event to the spring.
Our social events included a Lincoln Stars hockey game and a bowling night at Sun Valley Lanes. What an exciting semester it was!
A special thanks to the 7 graduating members of our program: Derek Carlson, Austin Dell, Brett Finke, Ty Lawson, Chad Manes, Al Peterson and Landan Maassen. Best wishes to these fine gentlemen as their journey as a PGA Member begins!
We are so proud of all that our students were able to accomplish this fall and cannot thank them enough for their continued commitment and passion for Nebraska PGA Golf Management Program. The Spring of 2019 will be a busy one as we host our annual PGA Golf Management Spring Scramble, Spring Stroke Play Championship, and several more guest speakers come to campus for our club meetings. We look forward to a new semester and can’t wait to see what’s in store for our program’s future!
