For the third year in a row, UNL has earned Tree Campus USA recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation.

The 2010 designation recognizes the university's dedication to campus tree management and environmental stewardship. UNL was one of the first nine universities to earn the Tree Campus USA designation in 2008.

To earn the honor, UNL met core standards of tree management and community engagement. Landscape Services held an Arbor Day tree planting ceremony, formed a tree advisory committee, and maintains a tree care plan.

Landscape Services maintains more than 9,000 trees on City and East campuses. Since earning Tree Campus USA status in 2008, the university has planted 400 trees.
