Pillowcase Sewing Workshop, June 29

4‑H'ers 8 and up are invited to a beginner sewing workshop on Sunday, June 29, 1‑4 p.m. at Walt Branch Library, 6701 S. 14th Street, Lincoln. It will be hosted by Clothing Superintendent Kath Conroy, and participants will construct a pillowcase that can be exhibited at the fair. Register by calling the Library at 402‑441‑4460. There is no registration fee.

Bring three different prewashed cotton fabrics in coordinating prints: ¾ yard for the main part of pillowcase (if fabric has pictures on it that need to go one direction, bring 1¼ yard), ¼ yard for the wide band at the open end of the pillowcase and a 4" portion of a yard for an accent strip that will be sewn between the two other fabrics.

In addition, bring your sewing machine in good working order and a sewing kit of supplies including thread, scissors, a seam ripper, pins or clips. Practice threading your machine and sewing straight lines prior to the workshop.
