The department of gerontology has openings in several select courses that can benefit multiple majors. These courses can also count toward the gerontology certificate of minor. Course numbers and a short description is provided below.
Gero 442-700 – Recreational Therapy (More than bingo! A course focused on creating meaningful and engaging activities for older adults)
Gero 447-700 – Mental Health and Aging (A comprehensive overview of mental health issues – ideal for pre-health majors and those in psychology)
Gero 467-001 – Programs and Services for Older Adults (A great course for any major to become familiar with community resources for people as they age)
Gero 489-700 – Palliative Care (The focus of this course is providing comfort to people of all ages with serious illness. This is an up-and-coming specialty in medicine)
