Social Justice and Inclusion Committee Updates

All Are Welcome
All Are Welcome

This year our organization is focusing on the concept of HOME, and with the current shift in campus climate, now feels like an important time to reflect on what that means. What can we do, especially in times of high anxiety, to make Nebraska home for our students as well as one another? How can the relationships we build, through the work that we all do, help to build a sense of safe shelter and compassionate community for all that fall under the University’s vast umbrella? How can we care for ourselves and help care for each other? AAA strives to provide the professional education and overall support our members need in order to carry out the mission of the advising profession, which emphasizes the importance of our responsibility to the individuals we advise. We encourage us all to think about how we will continue learning about the students we serve and how to challenge ourselves to grow.
-Meagan Savage, February 8, 2018

In order to continue learning about the students we serve, to learn about the resources available for students, and to challenge ourselves to grow, the Social Justice and Inclusion Committee continues to compile a list of resources for the AAA community. Below is an updated list of events.

We need your input too! In the next newsletter, we will include a section on courses related to social justice and inclusion and as well as several book suggestions. Please email your course and book suggestions by March 16th to Jen Mostek, jmostek2@unl.edu.
