Summer Sessions: Special Topics- Collaborating with Machines, June 5- July 7

This summer course (ARTS498 Special Topics in Studio Art: Collaborating with Machines) will focus on the school’s digital fabrication facilities through the lens of art making. The tool instruction will include: Vinyl cutter, Laser cutter, 3-D printer, CNC router and CNC Plasma Cutter. The software instruction will be: Adobe Illustrator and Sketchup. In addition to learning the software and hardware, students will be exposed lectures addressing: “Contemporary Art Applications of digital technologies,” "Consequences of the artist craft moving from hand to mind” and “Dreams: History of futuristic machines.”

The course runs June 5- July 7 and will meet M-F 9:00 a.m. - 12:25 p.m. The instructor is Assoc. Prof. Santiago Cal.
