Computer Science and Digital Humanities Students,

The George Eliot Archive Project is seeking an undergraduate web developer for the summer of 2020 and beyond. The ideal candidate will be a junior CS major with an interest in literary studies and digital humanities.

Gain excellent experience managing and expanding two simple, related websites, the George Eliot Review Online, https://georgeeliotreview.org/ and the George Eliot Archive, http://georgeeliotarchive.org with our enthusiastic content management team.

The primary duties include maintaining and updating the George Eliot Archive, the George Eliot Review Online, and the newly-launched George Eliot Scholars websites. This may include working with the Omeka platform (similar to Wordpress) and JavaScript to create and update site content.

Through this position, you can expect to create and maintain data visualization projects including the interactive relationship web, chronology, and geospatial mapping of Eliot’s travels.

Most of the projects requiring you to have an in-depth knowledge of fundamentals of programming have been created, and your job will be to maintain and update them as needed. Documentation on these projects has been created in GitHUB, and the previous UCARE student who has worked on them will be available to contact for any help.

Skills and platforms you will be working with:
· JavaScript (D3.js library, jQuery framework)
· HTML/CSS
· Omeka (simple, similar to WordPress)
· Basic PHP
