“Toward a Better Organic Expert System”
Abstract: After his defeat by Big Blue in 1997 Gary Kasparov was asked what the future of chess would look like. He thought the best outcome would be pairing human and computers together. A core principal of the Center for Intelligent Health Care is to optimize artificial intelligence and human cognition. This presentation will step though research on human learning and cognition, especially focusing on how experts think. He will discuss how this work might have implications for artificial intelligence in healthcare over the next decade.
Bio: Dr. Windle has been at the University of Nebraska Medical Center since 1985. He is the Richard and Mary Holland Distinguished Chair of Cardiovascular Science and the inaugural Director for the Center for Intelligent Health Care. His previous administrative duties have include Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine, Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education, and the Director of the Biomedical Informatics Program at UNMC. His clinical expertise is in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology. His research interests have included cardiac mapping and for the past 20 years have focused on electronic health systems in healthcare.
