The CSE Colloquium Series will host Patrick Wagstrom, a research staff member in the governance science research group at the IBM TJ Watson Research Center, on November 15th. He will present 'Don't Blame the Developers: External Stakeholders and the Tangled Web of Complex Software Development', which will focus on the influence that external stakeholders have on the development of software projects and the ways in which IBM is tackling the complex problem of software governance.

Prior to working at IBM, Patrick Wagstrom received a Ph.D. in Engineering and Public Policy and Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and has undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology. His research at IBM focuses on the complex interactions between people and software projects and how individual and group behaviors, rather than strictly technical issues, are most responsible for software project failures.

A reception will begin at 3:30 p.m. in 348 Avery Hall followed by the talk at 4:00 p.m. in 115 Avery Hall.
