Nearly 1,400 students attended UNL Math Day on Nov. 15, 2012. To view a video about Math Day, see instructions below. One hundred bowl teams competed in the Math Bowl competition, with Lincoln East, Duchesne Academy, Brownell-Talbot and Nebraska Lutheran taking the top prize in each class.

Noyce Master Teaching Fellows Shelby Aaberg, Jill Edgren, Katie Garcia, Greg Sand and Jason Vitosh brought teams with them to Math Day. Aaberg brought 50 students with him from Scottsbluff, while Sand brought 45 students from Omaha Central. Garcia brought a group of students from Bryan High School in Omaha for the first time in Math Day's history.

The top female and male student on PROBE I and II were from Omaha Central and earned scholarships to UNL. See all of the results online at: http://www.math.unl.edu/programs/mathday/results/getResults.php?year=2012.

Also, a story that was filmed about Math Day by Time Warner Cable now appears on Nebraska on Demand, which is Channel 411 on Time Warner Cable’s digital tier. If you go to channel 411, navigate to the "Around Nebraska" tab, then select "Good Life on Demand." Then you scroll all the way to the bottom of the list to "Math Day HD" or "Math Day SD," and enjoy the story!

A shorter version of the story will air as part of a Time Warner Cable nationally-distributed show called It Ain't Rocket Science, which focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related events involving middle school and high school students. That will also be available later this month on 411, on the "education" tab, under "CAMM." This show also runs on Channel 13 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 11 a.m., and Sundays at 8 p.m.

The date for the 2013 Math Day is still being decided. Please send any feedback to mathday@unl.edu.
