Explore the 20+ new virtual, local, and U.S.-based Global Experiences available in Summer 2021 and Fall 2021! These courses, taught by UNL faculty/staff, incorporate experiential learning and facilitate meaningful interactions with other cultures and countries. They cover a range of subjects and address compelling global challenges, and most are open to all majors. Students can connect with immigrant communities in Lincoln, analyze the Black Lives Matter movement on a global scale, learn about French contributions to engineering advancements, examine cocoa growing and chocolate production, and more. Most courses offer 3 credits, while some offer 1, 2, or 1-3 credits.

Cost/Scholarships: Through a tuition remission + a Global Experiences Scholarship, UNL Global Experiences courses offered in Summer 2021 will have a reduced tuition rate of $116.55 per credit hour, less than half the regular in-state base rate. All UNL degree-seeking students are eligible for this funding, unless already fully funded by another source. (If students are interested in additional financial aid to cover the reduced tuition and mandatory fees, they may complete the Summer Aid Application). If long-distance U.S. travel is possible, students will pay a portion of travel expenses.

Registration: Students will register by completing a brief MyWorld registration and enrolling in the course via MyRED. Registration and withdrawal deadlines and policies differ from standard courses. Students are now encouraged to register 4 weeks prior to the session start date:

• Pre-Session & 8-Week Session: April 19 (this week!)
• 1st Five-Week Session: May 10
• 2nd Five-Week Session: June 14
• Fall 2021: July 26

Once a course meets minimum enrollment, additional students may still be able to join after these deadlines.

Additional Options:
Global Remote Internships: UNL is partnering with International Studies Abroad (ISA) to offer 8-week global remote internships with organizations located in Australia and Spain (and Vietnam). Students may earn up to 6 transfer credits, and the total cost to students after receiving a VIP Scholarship is $650. Contact Stephanie Benes at stephanie.benes@unl.edu for more info.
Affiliated Virtual International Programs: Many of UNL’s affiliated study abroad organizations offer online courses, intensive language programs, virtual internships, group projects, or some combination of these. Costs vary by program, but all students will receive a VIP Scholarship to offset the cost.

Learn More: Education Abroad encourages students to connect with a coordinator to learn more.
