With an eye on expanding educational and research opportunities, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Department of Anthropology, and programs in geography and global studies have formed the School of Global Integrative Studies. The new school, part of the College of Arts and Sciences, combines an array of faculty expertise and subject matter that complement one another.

Research continues momentum in expenditures, awards
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln achieved $317 million in total research expenditures for the 2019 fiscal year, representing a 2.8% increase from the previous year and marking a ninth consecutive year of increased growth. Total research expenditures reflect the amount invested annually on research and development activities, and are considered a key indicator of growth and research quality with the university’s engagement around the world.

NASA, University of Nebraska release new global groundwater maps and U.S. drought forecasts
Working with a team of researchers from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, NASA has developed new weekly, satellite-based global maps of soil moisture and groundwater wetness conditions and one- to three-month U.S. forecasts of each product. While maps of current dry/wet conditions for the United States have been available since 2012, this is the first time they have been available globally.
