The Intensive English Program (IEP) students of the “English for Campus and Community Engagement” class recently completed UNL’s Center for Civic Engagements and the Lincoln Food Bank’s “Lincoln CAN” food drive challenge. As part of class curriculum, students study how people in many areas suffer from food insecurity and discuss ways to connect with the community actively and build a healthy environment.

The food drive is organized annually during September in honor of Hunger Action Month to raise awareness of food insecurity and join the nationwide movement to end hunger. Global Nebraska is proud of the students who surpassed their goal of 45 cans, collecting 72 cans and showing some Nebraska pride in their final "N" sculpture.
