Among the events organized by the ISSO office for international students are a Bowling and Board Games Night.

The International Student and Scholar Offices (ISSO) will host a trip to the Omaha Zoo on October 15 and a trip to Roca Berry Farm as part of their fall 2018 social programming. The office and its on-campus partners regularly host monthly social events aimed to introduce local and American culture to the university’s international student community.

Previous events hosted by ISSO for students and scholars include: Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony Watch Party; Bowling and Board Games Night; World Cup Watch Party; and several trips to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo and Lincoln Haymarket Farmer’s Market. ISSO also assisted Campus Night Life to organize the Husker Watch Party.

In addition to social events, ISSO has developed programs targeted towards specific populations including a monthly Lunch and Learning Workshop Series that covers topics aimed at international graduate students (Time Management, Managing Stress, Cultural Adjustment) and a seminar class aimed at new undergraduate international students to help adjust to living and studying in the U.S.

The ISSO and its on-campus partners have established a Programming Committee that meets monthly to coordinate activities and events. They are currently planning events for the spring 2019 semester. If you have any events you would like to see included on the calendar, are interested in joining the programming committee, or have a suggestion for an activity, please e-mail Emily Zimmer at ezimmer4@unl.edu.
