Sustainability Specialist/Undergraduate - UNL Office of Sustainability (Lincoln, NE)

The Sustainability Specialist - undergraduate position is intended to engage a student's creativity, energy, and leadership skills around sustainability principles while using UNL as a living sustainability laboratory to support innovation and learning. Students work collaboratively with the Office of Sustainability (OS) to tackle challenging campus sustainability projects.

Here are some of the responsibilities that would include:
> Working on UNL’s Sustainability Tracking Assessment Rating System (STARS) report
> Assisting with event planning (eg: Annual Sustainability Summit)
> Working closely with other UNL departments (ex: Housing, Procurement, Athletics) to implement UNL sustainability goals and initiatives
> Working with our Communications Specialist to create content for various communication platforms including web, blogs, social media and the newsletter
> Assisting with development of campaigns, competitions and outreach activities
> Develop and implement a personal passion project
> Working with college Student Advisory Boards to uphold their sustainability pledge
> Assisting with the general upkeep of the office space (ex: watering plants, staying organized)

Examples of ongoing projects include: documentation of campus sustainability metrics, peer-to-peer education programs among faculty/staff/students, sustainable procurement policy development, sustainability coalition for RSO’s, overhauling campus recycling plan, zero-waste event planning, and much more!

This paid position offers a flexible schedule of 15-20 hours per week during summer and beyond. Applications are due Friday, July 17, 2020. Interviews will be set up for qualified candidates. The Sustainability Staff - undergraduate will report directly to the Sustainability Specialist, but work closely with all members of the OS staff.
