The SiriusXM + Pandora Public Relations team is seeking an intern to support the team. The Public Relations team is responsible for communication and promotion of SiriusXM + Pandora’s music, entertainment, talk and sports programming content. The intern will work across the team to support all staff members as they fulfill daily media inquiries, and will learn how to develop and implement publicity strategies which are effective in gaining media attention, and building awareness and visibility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
> Support all members of the PR/communications staff who support the talk, entertainment, music, and sports departments.
> Learn to develop and implement publicity strategies for SiriusXM's programming and products.
> Learn to create various press materials including writing press releases, media alerts, and tune-in.
> Assist in creating and distributing press materials.
> Monitor SiriusXM’s channels and shows for possible press opportunities.
> Stay up-to-date on current trends, stories and developments within the news cycle which may impact SiriusXM/Pandora.
> Support staff members as they fulfill daily media inquiries.
> Update and organize SiriusXM + Pandora's media contacts and distribution lists.
> Research outlets for new PR opportunities.
> Track SiriusXM's + Pandora mentions in various press outlets.
> Assemble press clip packs to show the reach of SiriusXM + Pandora's publicity efforts.
> Learn to plan and manage press events.
> Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
> You must be 18 years of age or older.
> Internships are open to current students enrolled at a university and recent graduates who graduated within the 12-month period prior to the start of the internship.
> Current or previous enrollment in communications or public relations classes preferred.
> Prior internship or working experience in PR preferred.
Requirements and General Skills:
> Good project management and planning skills.
> Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
> Excellent written and oral communication skills.
> Attention to detail skills.
> Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
> Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.
> Familiar with SiriusXM + Pandora programming.
> Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills:
> Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
> Experience with Cision and/or Critical Mention a plus.
