Marketing Internship - Nebraska Athletics (Lincoln, NE)

The Nebraska Athletic Marketing Department is seeking innovative, creative and self-motivated UNL students to fill undergraduate marketing intern positions for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: developing and coordinating marketing and promotional efforts for Nebraska's 24 intercollegiate sports, implementing marketing strategies and gameday promotional activities, assisting with and planning special events, sharing articles via social media, and designing and creating advertisements for print and electronic media.

Candidates should be team-oriented and must be willing to work weekends and nights. Excellent oral and written communications skills are essential and knowledge of sports and an interest in the sports marketing industry are a plus. Pay is $9 per hour.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
> Assist in the development, coordination, and implementation of marketing and promotional efforts for all 24 Nebraska intercollegiate sports, which includes creating plans to increase attendance and enhance gameday atmosphere.
> Hold 6 - 10 office hours per week during the school year (depending on in-season sports) to work on marketing plans, assist full-time staff, and help with office tasks.
> Attend weekly one-hour intern meeting.
> Each intern will be assigned 2 - 3 sports to focus on during the academic year. You must be available for all home events of your assigned sports, including those events that may fall during holidays or breaks when UNL does not have classes such as Fall Break, Holiday Closedown, and Spring Break.
> Every intern must be available for all Husker football home games, including the Spring Game, to assist with set-up and take-down of the Husker Nation Pavilion. Set-up takes place approximately five hours before kick-off and take-down begins at kick-off.
> Assist with pre-game hospitality rooms and on-court/on-field promotions on a rotating basis with other interns for a variety of sports including soccer, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball and other sports as needed.
> Plan and implement other special projects and events throughout the year.
> Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
> Full-time UNL student.
> Excellent oral and written communication skills.
> Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
> Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
> Working knowledge of collegiate sports and NCAA guidelines.
> Marketing or advertising major (or related field).
> Potential to serve as an intern for more than one year.
