Career Identity and Equity Intern - UNL Career Services (Lincoln, NE)

The Career Identity and Equity Intern will work closely and collaboratively with the University Career Services Career Advising team by providing career development support to undergraduate students with a focus on outreach to students with diverse and historically marginalized identities which may include students of color, first-generation students, students with disabilities, student veterans, LGBTQA+ students, women students, and undocumented students.

Core responsibilities and priorities of the intern will be to:
> Collaborate on design, development, and delivery of meaningful and engaging career programming.
> Coordinate and execute panel programs promoting Career Interest Communities focused on strategies through which these students can gain experience in their Career Interest Communities to close equity gaps by increasing career connections and social capital and gain economic mobility.
> Identify and develop curated career resources to publish on the Career Services website.
> Support and participate in outreach and promotion of the career programming with campus partners including: First Huskers, William H. Thompson Program, TRIO/Student Support Services/Upward Bound/Educational Talent Search, OASIS, LGBTQA+ and Women’s Center, International Students Services Office, Nebraska College Preparatory Academy, and Student with Disabilities Services.
> Write and publish feature stories of scholars to inspire other students who relate with the featured students' identities.

What about supervision and training?
The Assistant Director for Career Education and Peer Programming will provide instruction and guidance for the Student Experience and Career Advising team of the Career Identity and Equity Intern will be a part of, by outlining objectives and projects to accomplish. The team will work collaboratively to determine how the task is to be accomplished, asking for guidance as necessary. Training will be provided specifically on the University Career Services website, career learning objectives, and career advising strategies and techniques, which will be on topics including career exploration, gaining experience, qualifications articulation and promotion, and career search and cultivation. Ongoing support and feedback will be provided.

What are the details?
> Internship starts August 2021 for full academic year 21/22.
> Some brief training opportunities may be available summer 2021.
> Internship requires 15-20 hours per week.
> Standard hours available between 8 am and 5 pm with some flexibility based on schedule, career programs and partner availability..
> Work-Study not required but can be applied.
> New staff will start at $12 per hour.
