Communications and Social Media Internship - Catalyst Public Affairs (Lincoln, NE)

Catalyst Public Affairs is accepting online applications for a student internship position focused on communications and social media management. Applicants must have junior standing, at a minimum.

Work schedule can be designed to accommodate academic class schedules; however, availability to work 10-15 hours per week is required.

This internship is designed to provide students hands-on opportunities to work in the public policy arena. The successful intern can expect an opportunity to build a network of contacts who can serve as advisors or mentors and a chance to develop a portfolio of digital and written communications material.

Responsibilities:
> Develop social media content creation, including infographics
> Produce and edit short-length videos
> Social media monitoring and response
> Write internal and external communications focused on a variety of topics
> Monitor and report on legislative updates in the Midwest region via media coverage
> Attend meetings with clients and government meetings
> Assist with planning and executing company and client events
> Staff legislative hearings and support client reporting
> Other duties, as assigned

This internship is offered from September 2021 to May 2022, with the possibility of a one-year extension beginning in September 2022.

Required qualifications:
> College credits equivalent to two (2) years toward an undergraduate degree in Journalism, Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, English or a closely aligned field
> Basic organization and prioritization skills
> Basic time and project management skills
> Proficient verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:
> Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Design Tools
> Knowledge of audio/video editing and graphic design

Compensation: The Communications/Social Media Intern shall receive compensation in the form of $14/hour. The internship also includes unpaid holiday leave, including the ability to take two weeks off to coincide with winter break and spring break, respectively.
