Recruitment Associate - UNL Biological Systems Engineering (Lincoln, NE)

This position will lead undergraduate student recruitment activities for the three undergraduate majors in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering (BSE). The position will involve high school recruitment visits, providing college and career information to prospective students and families, assisting with campus visits, organizing recruiting events and activities, and representing the department at on- and off-campus events. The position will work closely with BSE faculty and staff to implement strategic recruiting initiatives that engage faculty, staff, and students in the department to achieve smart enrollment growth. The position will engage with alumni, extension, K-12 agricultural and STEM educators, and other organizations to increase awareness and understanding of BSE academic programs and career opportunities. This position will also manage BSE social media platforms to deliver timely and relevant information to external audiences. The position will interface with recruiting staff in UNL Admissions, UNL College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, and UNL College of Engineering. This position will work closely with the BSE Student Services Coordinator and Academic Services Coordinator and will report to the BSE Director of Undergraduate Programs. Some travel and evening/weekend work required.

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, natural resources, STEM field, communication, marketing, education, student affairs, or closely related field plus one year of experience in public relations, student services, sales, marketing, or related field. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated interpersonal and organization skills. Proficiency with using Microsoft Office and social media tools. Ability to speak with individuals and groups with or without preparation. Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.

Experience with college recruitment activities and working with students. Experience with engaging diverse audiences. Experience with event planning and coordination. Experience with brand management using social media. Experience presenting to small and large groups of people. Ability to multi-task and work independently.
