KOLN/KGIN-TV is accepting applications for a Full-Time Morning Content Producer/Video Journalist in the Lincoln News Department.
The Morning Content producer will lead the way in building, writing and finding the best video for our two-hour morning show, First News Nebraska, which airs in a majority of the state of Nebraska. This show requires creativity, flexibility and energy to help grow our #1 morning show in more than one viewing area. He/she will have face-to-face interaction with the News Director and get regular critiques on performance. This producer will be working with a very enthusiastic and professional group of anchors/video journalists. He/she will also have opportunities to do on-air work as well in the morning show.

Duties include, but are not limited to: The Content Producer duties include building the show rundown, writing stories and editing video. During the newscast, the producer will be in the booth and serve as the center point of communication between the director, anchor and reporters. The producer will assist in posting stories and video to the webchannel with a 'web first' mindset. Posting engaging content to the station's social media sites is also a requirement. The producer will have to be self-motivated in finding relevant and compelling content for the morning show, and have a “team captain” mentality in working with the anchors to plan ahead and make memorable moments in the show. The producer is responsible for making sure the most important and most relevant stories are in the newscast and may need to assign reporters to breaking news stories. There will be opportunities the producer is expected to shoot video and turn stories for either the morning show or other newscasts.
Qualifications include: media-related bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience in journalism; understanding of what makes a compelling and engaging newscast; ability to edit video to script, write and report accurately and creatively under deadline pressure; and has the ability to juggle communication between anchors, reporters in the field and the production team.
She/He must maintain a permanent residence within 30 minutes of station and meet physical requirements of the position. A valid driver's license is required. She/He must have a flexible schedule and be open to working weekends or overnights.
