Program Intern, Humanities Nebraska

Humanities Nebraska (HN), a statewide non-profit organization is seeking a part-time intern for the fall 2016 semester.
Program Intern Description:
$12 per hour, working 10 hours per week
Under general supervision, the intern will:
 Assist with Prime Time Family Reading Time evaluation, collection of data and anecdotes, compilation and distribution of final reports, publicity, filing, and distribution of books and materials.
 Perform related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented with good communication skills (verbal and written), experience with data collection and reporting, and an interest in literacy, history and family reading programs. Familiarity with program evaluation methods would be beneficial.
Programs coordinated by HN include:
 Prime Time Family Reading Time: A family literacy program for at-risk children and their parents held in libraries and schools. Bilingual sessions offered for Spanish-speaking families.
 Chautauqua: Scholars portraying historical figures bring history to life in rural communities through an entertaining and educational format.
 Nebraska Conversations: This program provides a safe, open and reflective environment for civil community discussion over important current issues.
 Capitol Forum on America’s Future: U.S. foreign policy study for high school students and their teachers across the state, culminating in a day of deliberation at the State Capitol in Lincoln.
HN is located on the 3rd floor of the Lincoln Community Foundation building, Centennial Mall &
N St., and is flexible on hours worked. The internship may extend to the spring 2017 semester. Our office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
