Nelnet is looking for an experienced Corporate Communications Manager to lead the company’s internal communications team. The internal communications manager will work with senior leaders and stakeholders across the organizations to develop and implement effective communication strategies and messages that meet corporate goals, including helping Nelnet live its core values, keeping associates informed, and strengthening associate engagement.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead Nelnet’s internal communications.
2. Manage communication strategies and activities for corporate activities, announcements, and initiatives, such as the integration of acquisitions and benefit and wellness programs.
3. Establish and implement communications goals, strategies, and tactical internal campaigns and programs that help Nelnet live its core values, advance business goals, and strengthen associate engagement.
4. Help develop strategies for and manage corporate events and functions.
5. Ensure continuity and consistency of messaging across channels internally and externally.
6. Work closely with marketing, creative, and production teams to produce effective content.
7. Develop relationships and consult with leaders and internal teams to understand communication needs and develop strategies to meet their needs.
8. Assist in measuring and reporting on key metrics to evaluate communication performance.
9. Write, edit, and approve content for internal communications.
10. Support executives with the creation of presentations, articles, reports, and strategic messaging documents.
11. Responsible for the content, design, and usability of Nelnet’s internal SharePoint portal and weekly emails to leaders, managers, and associates
12. Optimize Nelnet’s communication tactics for better performance
13. Work with marketing and internal leaders to coordinate budgets, deadlines, objectives, and schedules for internal communications and campaigns.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing.
COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
High level of verbal and written skill required; pays attention to details; relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; performs a variety of tasks; a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Marketing or communications background preferred; must be able to handle high volume of projects; people leadership and decision making skills; excellent customer service skills; strong problem solving skills; ability to work independently or in a group.
