The Digital Sports Director is responsible for all digital elements of the sports presentation, from story concept, to strategies on maximizing audience. This person will also be responsible for general direction of Nebraska Junior Golf (NJG) and Nebraska Section PGA coverage planning and story conception.
They will work directly with the Director of Nebraska Junior Golf and CEO of the Nebraska Section PGA to implement all social media/communications strategy. When needed, this person will also assist with tournament operations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
> Videoing and photographing events to create highlight videos and other promotions.
> Communicate with and interview juniors, parents, and PGA golf professionals.
> Create contents for the Nebraska Section PGA and NJG’s social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
> Assist the Communications and Marketing Manager with marketing, advertising, and campaign strategies to promote the above programs.
> Assist with the management of the NJGT website, http://www.njgt.org, and Nebraska Section PGA website, http://www.nebraskapga.com.
> Compose media releases to recap tournaments and events.
> Compile information to create effective email promotions for the NJG and Nebraska Section PGA.
> Assist with on-site tournament operations (TEAM GOLF, NJGT, Junior PGA Championship, NGA Junior Championships, and Nebraska Section PGA events).
> Create newsletter material for NJG and Nebraska PGA Section news.
QUALIFICATIONS:
> Ability to operate video cameras and audio equipment.
> Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
> Enjoy working with children and young adults 7-19 years old.
> Organized, punctual, energetic, and a self-starter.
> Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team-based environment.
> Innovative, creative and detail-oriented.
> College degree (or working towards a degree) required.
> Interest in a career in sports media preferred.
> Basic knowledge of the game of golf.
> Photography skills.
> Graphic design skills.
SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE :
> Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
> Ability to edit using software Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere.
> Ability to use Apple and Microsoft computer and Operating System.
The Digital Sports Director will be responsible for attending tournaments held during the weekdays. On average, the media intern can expect to work in the office one-two days a week Monday-Friday. He/She will be expected to work Monday-Friday with an occasional weekend event. The intern will work approximately 35-40 hours each week.
