Applications are available for eligible students interested in participating in Global Eyewitness: Africa. Global Eyewitness is an endowed program that provides students interested in photojournalism and multimedia the opportunity to travel internationally and develop compelling multimedia stories in emerging nations. The program includes two courses and approximately 3 weeks of international travel to eastern Africa in May 2019.
Acceptance into the program requires students enroll in JOUR 490a Global Multimedia Photojournalism Project during the last 8 weeks of the spring semester. This course will focus on research in preparation of the trip. Students must also enroll in JOUR 490b during the fall semester. This course will focus on producing stories shot and developed during the trip. The program will culminate with a public exhibition of work in November 2019.
To apply for participation, students must have completed JOUR 404 Digital Photojournalism/Multimedia I and be graduating no sooner than Dec. 2019. To access the application, please contact Bruce Thorson by Friday, Feb. 15, 2019. The application must be submitted no later than 12 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019.
