Marketing Intern - Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals (Omaha or Lincoln, NE)

The intern will help with a wide variety of assignments, including video production, writing, event planning and project coordination. The intern will contribute to helping the department achieve its goals to promote the Madonna brand, support patient referrals and build relationships with donors, business partners, allied organizations, community leaders and the media.

The internship will involve projects each week that focus on a particular area of the Marketing-PR department's responsibilities. The duration of the internship is negotiable, but a scholastic year or a minimum commitment of one semester (or summer leading into semester) is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

(INFORMATION)
> Students in second semester sophomore year or beyond preferred.
> Must have experience with Microsoft Office programs on a PC or Mac platform, as well as Adobe Creative Suite.
> Must follow Associated Press Style.
> Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
> Coordinates all steps from creation of a project through final production on.
> Participates in and communicates with internal Madonna committees to ensure employees are aware of hospital initiatives and projects.

(PEOPLE)
> Collaborates with appropriate personnel to foster positive relationships with staff.
> Partners with assigned staff to accomplish tasks.
> Interviews patients and others for written, audio or visual use.
> Keeps staff abreast of workflow issues and ability to realistically meet deadlines.
> Takes instruction from supervisor and other marketing staff to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the department and/or system.

(THINGS)
> Ability to operate desk top publishing system, video and photographic equipment.
> Ability to operate personal computer/printer, calculator and other office equipment to produce articles, publications and other written materials.
> Maintains and assures a safe environment for the department.
> Handles and operates all necessary equipment and performs required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.
> Ensure clean environment following protocols and procedures for environment and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/training and/or Experience)
Undergraduate student majoring or minoring in communications studies, public relations, journalism, marketing or related field. Students with event planning, design, news and promotional writing and editing abilities, including video production preferred. Commitment to dedicating at least a semester to the internship. Must possess demonstrated ability in oral and written communication, and the operation of photographic and/or video equipment. Requires working knowledge of personal computers, desktop publishing and word processing software. Must be a self-motivated, creative thinker with the ability to work in a timely manner, both independently and as part of a team. Valid Nebraska driver’s license and proof of good driving record required.
