More than 450 fourth and fifth graders from 10 schools in the Lincoln area, and various homeschools, attended the Agricultural Literacy Festival held Oct. 23–25 at the Sandhills Global Event Center. Students gained a greater understanding of agriculture and how it impacts their daily lives. They rotated between the following ten interactive stations: Beef, Water, Equipment & Technology, Poultry, Dairy, Corn & Soybeans, Swine, Ag Careers, Horse and Sheep.
The Ag Literacy Coalition, led by Nebraska Extension, organizes the festival with the help of Lancaster County Farm Bureau, Nebraska Corn Board, agriculture businesses, commodity associations and food industry companies. This is the 22nd year the festival has been held in Lincoln.
