The Perennial Plant Association has named blunt mountain mint, (Pycnanthemum muticum), as Perennial Plant of the Year for 2025. A native to the eastern United States, this plant is a herbaceous perennial wildflower in the mint family. The flowers attract butterflies and other pollinators.

Blunt mountain mint grows in full sun to partial shade and in moist soil with good drainage. It grows 2–3 feet tall. Although blunt mountain mint is not considered invasive, it is a vigorous grower, with spreading rhizomes, in optimum conditions.

It is commonly found in woodland areas and thickets. The best landscape uses include butterfly, native, pollinator and rain gardens. There are no serious insect or disease problems. Hardy in USDA Zones 4–8.
