Professor Schaefer organized and moderated the government-industry roundtable at the Law College’s 9th Annual Washington, D.C. Space Law Conference titled New Space Technologies and Business Models: Perspectives on Regulation that took place Oct. 17, 2016 at the National Press Club. His white paper will be included by the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) in the transition documents for the new Administration taking office in January. Professor Schaefer also co-moderated two panels at the conference.

Professor Schaefer organized and spoke on a panel on new satellite technologies impact on international and US regulatory regimes for the American Branch of International Law Associations International Law Weekend taking place Oct. 29, 2016 at Fordham Law School in New York City. The panel drew over 50 attendees.

Professor Schaefer also gave a space law talk at his alma matter, the University of Michigan Law School this Fall, to the Space Law Society and International Law Society.
