Professor von der Dunk participated as an industry stakeholder for the U.S. Government Accountability Office’s report on commercial space – “FAA Should Examine How to Appropriately Regulate Space Support Vehicles”

Professor Frans von der Dunk worked in collaboration with other renowned space law experts in the fields of national and international space law and policy to draft a legal framework that provides that space resources are capable of being appropriated in accordance with international law. The draft was accepted by the Luxembourg Government in November.

Professor von der Dunk has been invited to be a part of the Space Missions Planning and Advisory Group (SMPAG) on behalf of the Association of Space Explorers (ASE). The working group will build off of the Asteroid Threat Mitigation: A Global Response report that was completed at the College of Law several years ago.

Professor von der Dunk spoke at an event organized by the Austrian National Point of Contact (NPOC) of the European Centre for Space Law (ECSL) for some 200 participants, including astronauts and ambassadors, at the Museum of Natural History in Vienna on 'Avoiding the fate of the dinosaurs with the help of lawyers? Legal aspects of planetary defence'.

Professor von der Dunk gave a keynote presentation at an International conference on Contemporary Issues in Air and Space law at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, on the topic of ‘Legal aspects of private manned spaceflight’.

Professor von der Dunk co-chaired the annual ECSL’s Practitioners’ Forum in Paris, at the Headquarters of the European Space Agency (ESA). The topic will be ‘Legal & Regulatory Aspects of Mega-Constellations’.
