I would like to encourage local government highway and street professionals to take advantage of a couple of great training opportunities coming up this month. The first is the 38th Annual Local Roads Conference in Sioux Falls, SD on October 23-25. This is a large event for the ten-state north central region and is dedicated to local roads topics. There are nearly 80 vendors expected this year, all taking advantage of the new conference venue at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. This event continues to attract more and more local roads professionals and it would be great to have strong representation from Nebraska. Registration, lodging and meal expenses for this event are eligible for reimbursement by the NDOT workforce development project.
A little closer to home is another great opportunity happening October 31 – November 3 at the Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln. It’s the annual Nebraska Operations Safety Summit. This is a one-day event (repeated) to promote safety for heavy equipment operators. Many thanks to Lancaster County for hosting and expanding this event! Prerequisite online training is required, followed by a full day of mostly hands-on heavy equipment experience with a focus on safety. Send your operators for a great day of learning and networking! No cost for Nebraska local government personnel, and an awesome lunch is provided.
