Advising Updates

Hello Math Majors,

I hope that things continue you to go well for you as the semester rolls along. I know that there were a lot of exams last week, and there are probably a fair number of exams this week. It is always better to space out your study for exams over several days rather than cramming for a day or two. If you have concerns about your study skills or prepping for exams, I am always available to help. We also have an excellent group of Academic Success Coaches in the Center for Academic and Transition who can help you with test preparation and study skills.

March is a very important month for course planning. Open registration for the Summer 2021 semester started on Monday, March 1, so you need to be looking at summer classes now if you think you would be interested in taking classes then. I have looked at a few summer classes so far, and it looks like the format of classes is basically the same this summer as it has been during the Spring 2021 semester.

Priority Registration for the Fall 2021 semester will begin on Monday, April 5, and here are some important dates to help you prepare for Priority Registration:

- Monday, March 15: Fall 2021 Student Enrollment Appointment Times available to students in MyRED.

- Monday, March 22: Fall 2021 Class Schedule viewable for students and Enrollment Scheduler open to students to plan schedules. Shopping cart will not be available - attempts to place items in the shopping cart will result in an error.

- Monday, April 5: Start of Fall 2021 Priority Registration.

NOTE: All availability begins at 12:01 am for each date specified above except for the actual priority registration period, which starts on the assigned enrollment times.

I would strongly encourage you to schedule a meeting with me prior to Monday, April 5 to discuss your interests, goals, and course plans going forward. If you are just starting to consider 400-level Advanced Math courses for the upcoming summer and fall semesters, I would also recommend meeting with Professor Radu to discuss how your interests and goals align with the available 400-level Advanced Math courses.

Thanks, Doug
