2025 MAA MathFest Contributed Paper Session
Abstracts due April 15
The Special Interest Group of the Mathematical Association of America on Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching (SIGMAA MKT) is seeking proposals for a contributed paper session, to be co-hosted with the MAA Committee on the Mathematical Education of Teachers. The purpose of this session is to bring together mathematicians, statisticians, mathematics educators, statistics educators, secondary mathematics teachers, and other parties invested in secondary teacher preparation to consider and learn about ways to strengthen the mathematical and statistical preparation of secondary mathematics teachers. Session organizers welcome a variety of contributions (e.g., original research, expositions, innovative ideas, curricular materials) that span a wide range of topics related to the mathematical and statistical preparation of secondary teachers. They are particularly interested in proposals that focus on mathematical knowledge for teaching and on emerging issues in the mathematical preparation of secondary teachers, such as the role of statistics, data science, AI, and other technologies. The fifteen-minute presentations are expected to be scholarly in nature and will include time at the end of each presentation for audience members to engage in conversations with the presenters. Submit your abstract.
