OK, I’m not saying you need to buy a new hard drive or expand your storage on the cloud. What I mean is, it is important to find resources that back up the work you are doing or planning. And MTEP has a tool that just might help!

The MTEP Policy Database includes a collection of policy statements, position statements and research summaries that have been produced by a wide variety of organizations doing work related to mathematics teacher preparation and mathematics education.

For example, suppose you are thinking about establishing or revising an alternative certification program. Going to the database and clicking on the “alternative-certification” tag reveals two studies from the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education that may provide useful information. Or, suppose you are thinking about how to address a new standardized assessment your state is considering. Clicking on “standardized-assessment” brings up an analysis of cut scores on the teachers-of-color pipeline. Or, suppose you want some support for changes you want to make related to data science. Clicking on “data-science” brings up three recent position statements from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. If there isn’t an applicable keyword, just click on the search link at the top, or scroll through the whole list!

We encourage you to use this tool and, if you find a useful policy we’ve missed, send it to me at martiwg@auburn.edu.
