Environmental engineering workshop: Paid professional learning for high school teachers

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Civil and Environmentil Engineering is facilitating an Environmental Engineering Secondary Education STEM Workshop from June 15-16 (in Omaha) and June 17-18 (in Lincoln).

Thise one and a half day workshop will give secondary educators insight into how environmental engineering problems are approached and solved by applying math and science principles. Stipends will be available for workshop attendees who are high school STEM teachers in the state of Nebraska.

Workshop details

  • Intended audience: new and experienced math, physics, and chemistry teachers of high school level courses
  • First day schedule
    • Workshop (including lunch): 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
    • Dinner and tour of a local consulting firm (optional): 5-7 p.m.
  • Second day schedule
    • Workshop: 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
    • Lunch and visit with local environmental professionals about other fields similar to environmental engineering: 12-1 p.m.
  • Location
    • Lincoln: Kiewit Hall (1700 Vine St.) on City Campus
    • Omaha: Peter Kiewit Institute (1110 S. 67th St.)
