First Gen Fair
Monday, November 8 | 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Nebraska Union, The Crib
Open to UNL students, faculty, and staff. Departments from all over campus will have booths highlighting their resources for first gen students. Join in for games, interactive activities, and photo opportunities meant to promote first gen visibility and develop the community on campus. Snag First Gen t-shirts & swag items.

Night of Listening

Tuesday, November 9 | 7 p.m. | Nebraska Union, Swanson Auditorium

**This event is canceled and will be rescheduled in the spring semester.**
A student-led town-hall event, the mission of Night of Listening is to “create a space for students and elected officials to share with and listen to each other’s hopes and visions for safe and productive communities in Nebraska and nationwide.”

Huskers will have the chance to dialogue the challenges facing students with state senators and local government officials, as well as their fellow students, to find common ground and be involved in the community, state and nation.

Elected officials in attendance will be:
• Adam Morfeld, state senator for District 46
• Patty Pansing Brooks, state senator for District 28
• John McCollister, state senator for District 20
• James Michael Bowers, chair of the Lincoln City Council and representative for NE District 1.

Each senator and council member will speak for a short time before opening the floor to students for questions and to share their stories.

Pop in and enjoy a free meal while connecting with peers and fellow first gen students. This is an opportunity to low-key network with those who have come before you. Open to UNL students, faculty, and staff. No RSVP required.

DIGS Community Canvas Mural Painting
Wednesday, November 10 | 4 to 6 p.m. | Hawks Hall, Room 102
Take part in painting a canvas mural that will be installed in the Diversity & Inclusion Gathering Space - nicknamed DIGS. RSVP at https://go.unl.edu/DIGSMural to come by and hang out or sign up for one of the limited spots for painting.

Not much of a painter? No problem – the design will be outlined (think like a big paint-by-number activity). Not to mention, PALETTE staff will be there to give you a helping hand. Closed-toed shoes are recommended.

The Science Behind COVID-19 Vaccines & Immunology

Plan to attend this interesting and informal educational session with Dr. Angie Pannier, a biomedical engineer and expert in nucleic acid vaccines, and Dr. Amanda Ramer-Tait, an immunologist and expert on host-microbe interactions.

Whether you’re a budding researcher yourself or you’d like to increase your scientific knowledge to share with family and friends, this session will break down the basics of how vaccines work.

Islamophobia: The Myths, Roots, and Rise
Friday, November 12 | 12 to 1:15 p.m. | McCollum Hall, Room 115
Khaled Beydoun, acclaimed authored and law professor, will discuss “Islamophobia: The Myths, Roots, and Rise”. Beydoun is a leading public intellectual on Islamophobia, in the United States and abroad, and other matters relevant to policing and profiling of Muslim populations and their research examines the legal construction of Arab and Muslim American identity, the foundational and modern development of Islamophobia and the intersection of national security policy, civil liberties, and citizenship.

The lecture will be open to everyone. This event is organized by the Muslim Law Students’ Association, with help from American Constitutional Society, Equal Justice Society, and Multicultural Legal Society.
