Huskers who have received a COVID-19 booster can pass on quarantine if exposed to the virus. According to CDC guidance, that means you can still attend in-person classes and go to work while wearing your face covering. However, you should still get tested five days after your exposure and continue to watch for symptoms.

Being boosted also offers protections against severe COVID-19 illness symptoms. Data from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services showed that individuals who received the booster are 46 times less likely to be hospitalized compared to those not fully vaccinated.

College-aged individuals are eligible for a booster if it's at least 5 months after the second dose of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or at least 2 months after the first does of a Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Booster vaccines are available at retail locations in the community and through vaccine free clinics hosted by the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department. You also can text your ZIP code to 438829 to get a list of vaccine sites near you. (Message and data rates may apply.)

Initial vaccines are also available at the locations above as well as at the University Health Center.

Students are encouraged to submit their vaccination and booster status of the university's voluntary vaccine registry. The registry is used to gauge the level of protection in the campus community and helps university leaders prepare for necessary COVID-19 responses.
