UNL Asian Student Union has planned a full week of Lunar New Year events for Huskers to celebrate together.

One of the most sacred of all traditional Chinese holidays, Lunar New Year is a time of family reunion and celebration.

From Jan. 31 to Feb. 7, the UNL Asian Student Union has five events for UNL students to experience the unique and beautiful festivities with fun, food and culture.

All events are at 6 p.m.

MONDAY, JAN. 31 | Fold Your Way through Lunar New Year
Kick off the week's festivities with an origami tutorial via Zoom.

TUESDAY, FEB. 1 | Lucky Envelope
Stop by the OASIS Lounge on the 1st floor of the Gaughan Multicultural Center. Visitors will receive their own "lucky envelope" and a treat for the new year.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 2 | LNY Cooking Show
ASU members will share & demonstrate a homemade dumpling recipe and a cooking show via Zoom.

THURSDAY, FEB. 3 | Calligraphy Night
Learn and practice the traditional art of calligraphy. Stop by the Unity Room on the 2nd level of the Gaughan Multicultural Center.

MONDAY, FEB. 7 | Year of the Tiger Gala
ASU and OASIS are partnering to present a celebratory gala & dinner in Red Cloud B-C Rooms of the Willa Cather Dining Center. Students are invited to wear traditional clothes to the event. Attendees will be treated to a meal, fashion show, and traditional Lion Dance. RSVP is required to attend: https://go.unl.edu/lunar.
