Mueller Planetarium opens a new fulldome show schedule today that includes a tribute to NASA's space shuttle program. The schedule features "Dawn of the Space Age" and the space shuttle tribute at 7 p.m., Thursdays and 3 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays; and "Light Years from Andromeda," at 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

There are no shows Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1.

"Dawn of the Space Age" traces the history of space exploration. People of all ages will be captivated as this animated show transports them into the cosmos, allowing them to relive — or witness for the first time — these incredible feats in space history. (Running time is 32 minutes.) Following the show, there will be a three-minute feature honoring the Space Shuttle Program, which ended in July with the launch of Atlantis. Planetarium coordinator Jack Dunn has assembled photography by George Fleenor, who was given unprecedented access to the shuttle pad before and during the final launch.

“Light Years From Andromeda” is a story of cosmic distances and humanity's quest to understand the universe. Audiences will go on a journey of epic proportions across space and time. Following this show, visitors have the option to stay for a short presentation on the current night sky. (Running time is 40 minutes.)

The schedule is subject to change. For the current schedule and previews, visit the planetarium's website, http://www.spacelaser.com. The schedule will be updated again February.
