The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) continues to grow and expand this year. Organizers host weekly recovery hangouts starting at Big Red Resilience & Well-being (UHC 127) on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. Participants then eat out as a group and carpool to the Lincoln Young People’s AA meeting.

CRC gatherings are an essential opportunity for students in recovery or considering recovery to express themselves and learn from others. Furthermore, meetings provide a wealth of information regarding tactics to maintain sobriety and self-improvement.

As the CRC community grows, organizers continue to add more group activities such as group yoga at Lotus on October 2; a sober tailgate on October 30 that will include food, a DJ, cornhole, and more; and a Halloween costume dance through Lincoln AA on October 30. They've also begun planning various group bike rides and hikes around the Lincoln area. These group activities give students time to have fun with other students in recovery in a safe environment, which is an extremely important part of the recovery process.

The group plans to continue outreach to the general student body to grow the community even further, as the best thing for students in recovery is to be around other students in recovery. Weekly meetings, social activities and events to foster an environment dedicated to academics, self-improvement and recovery will continue to expand. If you know a student who'd like to connect, please have them complete the online form to get connected.
