Each dining option has a unique flair that students can experience and enjoy while getting to know different areas of campus. Dining Services offers four dining centers, two sandwich shops, six markets with fresh food selections prepared daily, a coffee shop, and the Selleck Food Court featuring six different vendors. Students with meal plans can visit any of the dining locations at their leisure, and Dining Dollars increase meal options as they are accepted by vendors in the Nebraska Unions. Read on to learn more about each location’s specialties.

ABEL DINING CENTER
You will not find an oil fryer in the Abel Dining Center, allowing for healthier options. It is home to a delicious gelato bar where students can find many different flavors to satisfy their dessert cravings. Diners can also find the Veggies+ line at Abel, which boasts a wide assortment of vegan and vegetarian options for students who dine with those preferences.

CATHER DINING CENTER
Where the Abel Dining Center has the gelato bar, the Cather Dining Center is home to two display cases devoted entirely to desserts. Making it the place to go to satisfy even the pickiest sweet tooth. Students also enjoy the wide variety of worldly cuisine served on the World’s Fare line including homemade egg rolls and other recipes developed by many of the staff members in the unit.

EAST CAMPUS DINING CENTER
Mardi Gras lunches and dinners are a well-attended offering on the university’s East Campus. This special meal is an annual highlight for students, faculty, and staff on both campuses. Equally popular are the summer grill-outs featuring barbecue cuisine from a variety of cultures. In addition, this dining center is home to the Corner Deli, which has been serving the campus community freshly made deli options for over 10 years.

Beginning Oct. 9, the East Campus Dining Center will open at 11 a.m. on weekends due to low dining volume at breakfast. However, students can still enjoy breakfast pastries and beverages from Starbucks located on the second level of the Nebraska East Union or visit the Herbie’s Market for even more breakfast selections.

HARPER DINING CENTER
Coming soon – a unique barbeque experience is scheduled to open in the 2022 spring semester at the Harper Dining Center. Harper’s Smokehouse will offer delicious barbeque items for the campus community to enjoy. In addition, Harper is home to the 8+ serving line which showcases entirely allergen-free meal items. All items served on the 8+ serving line do not contain soy, dairy, wheat, eggs, fish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds, or gluten which makes it an ideal place for students who need to be more vigilant of allergens when making their dining choices. Late-night options are also available, with multiple pizza and chicken choices available until 11 p.m.

SELLECK FOOD COURT
An extremely popular option for students, the Selleck Food Court offers six unique vendors with a mobile-ordering experience. Students can choose from places like Qdoba, Selleck Café, or Grains & Greens to dine using their meal plan. Also coming in spring 2022 is the first gluten-free restaurant on campus.

HUSKER HEROES
Formerly known as Husker Hoagies, Husker Heroes locations at Abel and Cather offer students delicious sandwich options. This grab-and-go dining concept allows students to dine where they want when they want with a mobile ordering setup. Popular sandwich choices include the Husker Italian, the Chicken Caesar Wrap, or the Build Your Own.

HERBIE'S MARKET
With six locations across city and east campus, you can think of Herbie’s Market as the on-campus convenience store. Students can stop by for a late-night snack, some essentials like basic self-care products, or pick up food options prepared daily including sandwiches and sushi. The Markets are perfect for study session sugar fixes or snacks for movie nights with friends.

TAZZA COFFEE EXPRESS AT KNOLL
Located on the second floor of the Knoll Residential Center, Tazza Coffee Express is the only coffee shop on campus currently run by Dining Services. Students can use their meal plan to grab a delicious cappuccino, latte, smoothie, or house specialty. With hours early morning and late-night hours, it’s perfect for the early risers or the night owls.

NOW HIRING STUDENT WORKERS
All the great options above require a crew of hardworking, dedicated staff and students to make it all happen. Unfortunately, many dining locations have had to alter serving hours or offerings due to student staffing shortages. If your student is looking for an on-campus job opportunity that offers flexible hours, a great atmosphere, and a free meal with their shift, please encourage them to reach out to a member of the management team at any dining services location. We’d love to have them join our team and help make the on-campus student experience one to remember.
