Classroom tips for Husker Student POWER

Husker Student POWER
Husker Student POWER

A faculty and staff team recently spent a week at the 2019 American Association of Colleges and Universities Summer Institute on High-Impact Practices and Student Success to explore opportunities for using the Husker Student POWER framework within the classroom. Their work has been compiled into a comprehensive set of tips, which were presented at the fall Teaching and Learning Symposium.

Drawing upon the five POWER elements, these Faculty Engagement Tips offer strategies and activities for intentionally connecting undergraduates to curricular and co-curricular experiences in the areas of purpose, ownership, well-being, engagement, and relationships. Instructors are encouraged to draw upon and adapt these strategies within their courses.

Team members who compiled these tips are: Toni Anaya, Libraries; Joe Dauer, Natural Resources; Kathy Castle, Communication Studies; Jordan Black, Learning Communities; and Bill Watts, Undergraduate Advising and Career Development.
