Canvas
Canvas is the Learning Management System at the University of Nebraska for all four campuses — UNL, UNK, UNO, and UNMC. Use your MyUNL.edu credentials to log in to the LMS. How to Use Canvas is available in Pressbooks or the Help option in Canvas. Instructors who need additional assistance can submit a help-request ticket.
Digital Learning Center
The Digital Learning Center Exam Commons provides a web-based assessment service in a large-scale environment. It is located in the southeast corner of the Adele Coryell Hall Learning Commons (Love Library North). During the fall semester, the DLS will be open for student testing with a limited capacity — approximately 1/3 of seats will be available to ensure physical distancing. Testing times will be limited to one hour to allow more instructors to hold exams. Students who are allowed extra time by Services for Students with Disabilities will still be accommodated. Instructors who have not yet submitted requests for the fall semester should do so as soon as possible. Testing requests for an upcoming term may be submitted 45 days prior to the first day of that term.
Turnitin
Turnitin provides instructors with a web-based detection service to identify suspected acts of plagiarism. As an available tool within Canvas, the application checks submitted documents against its database and websites to identify unoriginal content. It can also be used in formative assessment to help students learn to avoid plagiarism and improve their writing.
Zoom
Zoom is the web conferencing tool used by the University of Nebraska. Zoom Pro licenses are available to UNL faculty and staff. Use your My.UNL.edu credentials to log in to the service. New users can open Zoom accounts at unl.zoom.us. Zoom also integrates with Canvas.
UNL Academic Video
UNL Academic Video is provided by VidGrid, the video streaming and lecture capture system used by the University of Nebraska. The service is available to instructors and students in academic courses for credit. A limited amount of professional closed captioning is available to all instructors with academic videos. Priority to closed captioning will be given to accommodation requests from Service for Students with Disabilities.
EvaluationKit
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is implementing a common Student Learning Experience Survey (i.e., course evaluation) across all colleges for undergraduate and graduate coursework. The survey is administered through EvaluationKit, an online course evaluation software tool. Questions about technical implementation should be directed to Ben Lass, System Administrator for EvaluationKit, at 402-472-2313 or mysurveys@unl.edu. Training for administrators responsible for EvaluationKit implementation is available.
STAR Initiative
The Successful Teaching with Affordable Resources initiative encourages the use of digital textbooks and open educational resources to help make access to textbooks and course content more affordable for students. The program is supported by the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor, University Libraries, Information Technology Services, Campus Bookstore, and the Center for Transformative Teaching.
